How to Rotate a PDF and Save It Permanently
Rotating a PDF in a viewer often does not stick. Rotate the pages and write the change into the file itself, privately in your browser.

Why the rotation does not stick
Turning a page in a browser viewer or a preview window usually changes how the page is displayed, not how it is stored, so the next person to open the file sees it sideways again. Rotating the pages and saving a new PDF writes the orientation into the document itself.
Steps to rotate a PDF
- Open the Rotate PDF tool and select your file.
- Choose 90, 180, or 270 degrees.
- Apply the rotation and download the new PDF.
- Open the download and confirm every page reads the right way up.
Which angle do you need?
- 90 degrees: a landscape scan that should be portrait, or the other way round.
- 180 degrees: a page that came out of the scanner upside down.
- 270 degrees: the same as 90 degrees in the other direction.
- The rotation is applied on top of the angle each page already has, so run it once and check the result.
Before you send it on
Rotation does not re-encode the page content, so text stays selectable and the file size barely changes. If the document also needs to be smaller or joined to another file, do that after the orientation is correct.
