PDF to Markdown
Convert a PDF into clean Markdown with headings, lists and paragraphs. Runs 100% in your browser — no uploads, no sign-up, no watermarks.
Convert PDF to Markdown in Your Browser
Turn any text-based PDF into clean, ready-to-edit Markdown without uploading a file. The converter reads the PDF's own text layer, measures font sizes and line positions, then rebuilds the structure: larger text becomes #, ## and ### headings, bullet and numbered lists keep their nesting, and wrapped lines are joined back into real paragraphs. Perfect for moving a report into a docs site, a README, Obsidian, Notion, or a static site generator. 100% browser-based, completely private, free, and no watermarks.
Why Use PDF to Markdown?
- Structure, not just text: Headings, lists and paragraphs are reconstructed from the page geometry instead of dumped as flat lines.
- Instant option toggles: Turn heading detection, paragraph joining and page-break markers on or off — the PDF is only parsed once.
- 100% Private: Parsing happens entirely in your browser, so confidential documents never touch a server.
- Free & Unlimited: Convert as many PDFs as you like — no accounts, no watermarks, no page caps.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a PDF to Markdown?
Drop the PDF into the tool. It reads the text layer locally, detects headings and lists, and shows the Markdown straight away — then copy it or download a .md file.
Does it detect headings and lists?
Yes. Headings are inferred from font size relative to the body text, and bullet or numbered lists keep their indent level. You can switch heading detection off if you prefer plain paragraphs.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
No. Scanned pages are images with no text layer, so there is nothing to convert. You would need to run OCR on the file first.
Are tables and images converted?
Tables come through as plain lines and images are not exported. Review the Markdown before publishing if your PDF is table-heavy.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.
